Celebritus Festivus

And Happy Holidays... BANNED...
I say Merry Christmas, you say Celebritus Festivus, Joyous Kwanza Umoja Nia Imani, Happy Hanukkah חֲנֻכָּה‎, Great Awe to the Solstice and all of the ways all our different peoples share the joy and warmth of family and friendship during this season. If I say Merry Christmas to a person- I am sharing the warmth and love of the season as I was taught from childhood. If your response is Merry Christmas then we connect with our shared joy of the Christmas season. If you respond with Kwanza, Hanukkah or whatever brings you joy I not only get to share the warmth of this holiday season but I also get to share and celebrate the diversity of your life and celebration with you. And yes I believe that our differences might be an even larger blessing. But if you or I are forced or encouraged to engage the ”Happy Holidays” default or God forbid “tis the Season !!!” we neuter and generify (is that a word) these celebrations- the very thing that I think the motive of some to try and protect- “diversity.”
“Happy Holidays” in place of what you truly celebrate, just White Labels the whole holiday and leaves nothing left but the economic-consumer-buy-buy-wrap-ripapart-throwaway attitude that we all just simply hate- remember the moment you hear your first Xmas song or tinsel wrapped kiosk in !?OCTOBER?! Really MAYBE it was even September…
So Celebritus Festivus to you all and may some of the joy you all have given me this year be returned to you and yours by the smiles on the faces of everyone you meet.
Much Love.
